Epact: Scientific Instruments of Medieval and Renaissance Europe


	Paris

Paris was the location of the earliest known settled commercial instrument manufactory in Europe. This was the workshop of Jean Fusoris at the end of the 14th and beginning of the 15th century. However, instrument making did not establish a firm presence in Paris and, apart from isolated examples, the next important maker was Philippe Danfrie in the late 16th century.
